My best friend was visiting from Bakersfield this weekend and since she's vegan, I was on a mission to find a local vegan restaurant. As soon as we walked in, the staff greeted us and let us seat ourselves wherever we'd like. The vibe was so calm and relaxing, they even have a cute outside seating (that I didn't notice until after we left ): ). I ordered the Royal Pho Soup and a Vietnamese iced coffee that were both delicious. The pho was full of flavor and spicy. I usually have to add siracha to pho but I didn't have to for this one. The Vietnamese coffee was also really good!

I also love that they use paper straws and metal chopsticks to reuse! I would definitely recommend this place for its friendly service, mouthwatering food, and cute decor!

Bright and cheery, yet traditional and very Asian is how I would describe the interior of this Vietnamese vegan restaurant. I am by no means a vegetarian or a vegan, but am always open to trying new foods and new places.

Well, this place delivered on service and food! My boyfriend and I both ordered phō -- he had the traditional phō noodle soup, while I went with the Royal noodle soup with phō noodles instead of the vermicelli. We also split the spring rolls. All of this was delicious!! There was plenty of plant-based protein and veggies in both soup bowls, and the broths were tasty. We didn't even miss meat at all!

We also loved the freshness and crispiness of the spring rolls. It was a very nice, clean, light snack to munch on pre-entrées. We agreed it'd be the perfect thing to eat after a work-out too!

The prices here are reasonable, and service was kind and attentive. Do not look past this place or judge vegan/veggie food as bland. This is a misconception. The Sun Vegan puts out wonderfully tasty food!

My boyfriend and I came here a few times because sometimes we want Vietnamese food but we wanted vegan.  This location is pretty good and it's ran by this Vietnamese couple, who is super nice!  Some items we usually get are the spring rolls, which came with lots of fresh veggies and a yummy peanut sauce and the royal noodle soup (a vegetarian version of BBH).  The flavor for the royal noodle soup was pretty good, very flavorful and rich, with a clear broth, so healthy and delicious!  We also got a seafood plate and that was pretty good too!  I love how creative vegan food is!  The Thai banana egg roll was yummy as well.  Overall food was pretty good, they came out a bit slow because I think the couple ran the whole place by themselves! The place was pretty quiet and peaceful and it was spacious.  I would recommend this place if you want to try out vegetarian Vietnamese food!

Hidden gem! I got the spring rolls with peanut sauce as an appetizer, and the pho noodle soup as my main. The spring rolls tasted fresh and the sauce was yummy. I wasn't a fan of the fake chicken in my soup, but the broth and noodles were really good. Atmosphere was relaxing and service was pretty quick. I deffo recommend giving this place a try.

I visited Sun Vegan for the first time in a few years as it is now closer to where I live. I ordered the tofu in tomato sauce as I'm a huge fan of similar Vietnamese tomato dishes. The dish was nothing short of flavorful. The tangy and savory broth also paired well with the multigrain rice I had as a side. The server who helped me was also very sweet. I hope to make more frequent trips now that I am closer!

Owner and chef remain the same. But they've moved to a different location and changed the name of their restaurant. It used to be on with a Vietnamese (harder to pronounce) name. Items in the menu are the same, with some new addition.

Few favorite items of mine:  Heavenly Salad, Sauteed Garlic Strips, Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. All have a harmonious blend of ingredients, including perfectly cooked grains, fresh vegetables, and a medley of spices that dance on your taste buds. What sets this place apart is the sheer creativity and thought that goes into its preparation. It's not just a meal; it's an experience. The owner and staff are all welcoming and treat you like family.

VERY HARD TO FIND THEM THEY ARE IN A CORNER TUCKED AWAY However, the eventual discovery of this hidden gem is undoubtedly worth the search. On my recent visit, the efficiency of service was nothing short of impressive, with my order being swiftly prepared within mere minutes, leaving me pleasantly surprised. I WAS THE FIRST ONE THERE ON A TUESDAY. YELP NEEDS TO UPDATE THEIR HOURS YES THEY WERE OPEN ON THIS TUESDAY.

The warm demeanor of the staff, exemplified by the friendly cashier who handled transactions after my meal was ready, added an extra touch of hospitality to the experience. The freshness of the food stood out prominently, leaving me satiated without the discomfort of feeling overly full, a stark contrast to the rubbery texture often associated with the faux meat substitutes in other vegan eateries. THEY HAVE EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE.

The Sun Vegan is an excellent choice for flavorful, nourishing Vietnamese food in a more upscale setting. The owner, Ana, is passionate about delivering a memorable dining experience to everyone who comes through the door -- vegan or not. The food is reasonably priced and of great quality, too.

My husband and I were in the area and came in at a somewhat odd time where it was super late for lunch but still way too early for dinner. Nonetheless, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately. With an extensive menu, it was a little hard for me to decide what to order. I love rice dishes so I chose the Claypot Ocean and hubby went with his favorite, pho. He chose the Hue-style pho called Royal Noodle Soup.

The Claypot Ocean was excellent! The vegan "fish" was served in a stoneware bowl along with mushrooms, onions, and eggplant, and everything was glazed with a delectable, savory sauce bursting with umami. It was accompanied by rice and a nice fresh salad. The thoughtfully composed salad provided a bright, fresh counterpoint to the richness of the clay pot. I'd order this again!

Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his pho. It came with all the usual fresh toppings and was well seasoned. I enjoyed several spoonfuls of the pho and marveled at the complexity of flavors.

Our meals left us feeling happy and sated but not at all heavy or weighed down -- a testament to Sun Vegan's thoughtfully prepared food and carefully chosen ingredients.

The owner came over to ask us for feedback. She was very kind, and she radiated warmth. Her mission is to feed people delicious, nourishing vegan meals and she even offers a Tuesday special where a whole plate of food is only $7! I wish we lived closer and could come here more often. We'll be back the next time we're in the area.

TL;DR - surprised me, such a solid spot for some vegan food!

FOOD:
*west coast fish tacos - it tasted like actual fish! the texture was also similar to real fish. slight crunch on the outside, flaky on the inside. all the toppings and tortilla went well together. i was worried that it wouldn't fill me up but the portion-size was perfect! 5/5

SERVICE: our main server was kind and efficient- no complaints! 5/5

WAIT: there was no wait to get seated and the food came out about 5-10 minutes after we ordered. pretty quick! 5/5

PRICE: for my dish, it was around $17 total including tax and tip. i would say the price worth what you get! 5/5
